The
Challenge

Founded in 2004, Medica Group has become the market-leading teleradiology business in the UK, working with c.100 hospitals and retaining customers at an enviable rate. To keep pace with this change and focus on innovation, they were searching for a Clinical Director who would, together with the Medical Director, provide Clinical Leadership across a wide spectrum of clinical responsibilities including clinical governance, clinical incident investigation, clinical engagement with service users (especially clinical directors) and with Medica’s growing reporter community.

Our focus was on identifying Consultant Radiologists, with extensive experience in the field, in both private and public healthcare. We focused this research in acute and especially teaching hospitals with a reputation for clinical expertise, research, and innovation. Given this was a fairly focused candidate pool, we focused on strong advocacy from the beginning to discuss the impact that they would have in the role. A longlist of eight senior leaders was identified and Rob Lavis, Consultant Radiologist at Gloucester Royal Hospital and a Radiologist at Medica Group, was appointed.
